Getting Here

Getting to Kilim Geoforest Park has never been easier. Even though Langkawi is an island, it is very well connected with various other places. Visitors can get to Langkawi by air or by ferry services which operate from mainland Malaysia and Satun, which is a town located in neighbouring Thailand.

By Air

The easiest way to travel to Langkawi is by air. There are plenty of flights that depart from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to Langkawi International Airport. There are also daily flights from nearby Penang International Airport. Malaysia Airline (MAS) and Air Asia operate daily direct flights. There are also direct flights to Langkawi from Singapore and China.

By Ferry Services

This is the most popular method of travelling to Langkawi by travellers. There are numerous daily trips provided by the ferry services operators. A trip would usually takes between 1 hour 15 minutes to 2.5 hours depending on the routes. Currently there are four routes which connect Langkawi from the mainland. The routes are:

  • Kuala Perlis – Langkawi
  • Kuala Kedah – Langkawi
  • Penang – Langkawi
  • Satun (Thailand) – Langkawi

Travellers can buy the tickets on the spot at the ferry terminals or through the internet.

Langkawi Local Transportation

Although there isn’t a public bus service in Langkawi, travellers wouldn’t find it difficult to move around Langkawi. Taxis, vans, rental cars and motorcycles are easily available at the airport, Kuah Jetty, hotels, lodgings and many other places. The road conditions in Langkawi are very good. If you intend to rent cars and drive by yourself, cars in Langkawi are driven on the left side of the road.

To get to Kilim Geoforest Park (please also see map images below this article), and if you are driving from Kuah Jetty, drive along Persiaran Putera Road (Route 110 – driving distance: 2.5 km). Turn right onto Ayer Hangat Road (Route 112 – driving distance 11.1 km). Just after you see Galeri Perdana building which is on the right side of the road, turn right onto the road which will lead you straight to Kilim River Tourist Jetty (driving distance: 650 m).
